ProjectDetails Published : Architects Journal 15.12.05 Description : The Timber Frame Company had the rare opportunity to construct a timber framed building in the heart of London. The brief from The London Borough of Camden was for a 120 seat restaurant built using eco (logical & nomical) technology. The Timber Frame Company commissioned Timber Design Limited to design the project in association with them. The result is a building which is largely constructed of timber and timber based products, including the foundations. The structural system was designed to allow maximum internal flexibility for the restauranteur by allowing the omission of internal braces. The detailing was designed for off-site fabrication and maximum on-site efficiency. The restaurant, The Terrace in the Fields, is run by the excellent chef Patrick Williams and opened in September 2005.
