Details

Description :

Fifteen metre high sculpture by Alison & Peter Smithson, influential and controversial British architects of the mid-20th century. Designers of landmark buildings such as the Economist Building and the Robin Hood Gardens housing complex. Alison passed away in 1993 but Peter lived to see his Obelisk raised into position within the parklands of Hadspen House in 2002. The oak trees used for this project were planted on the estate by the grandfather of client Niall Hobhouse. These trees were converted into sawn timber and cut to from the sculpture on the estate.
